Clinical Therapist

PATH Program, Sioux Falls, SD

Hours Full-time with flexible hours depending on need of clients. This position will have the option of being a 10-month or a 12-month position.

Responsibilities The Clinical Therapist cares for, supports and strengthens individuals, families and communities by working as a member of the LSSSD team. The clinical therapist provides professional counseling to a wide variety of individuals and completes appropriate documentation efficiently. This position will be working with our PATH program within various local schools providing school based mental health services to students kindergarten through high school.

Qualifications Must have a master’s degree in counseling or social work or other human service field with 2 years experience required. Must be a licensed CSW-PIP or LPC-MH. Must successfully complete all agency background checks. Requires valid driver’s license and ability to obtain approved driver status.

Salary Dependent upon experience and education.

Director of the Counseling Center

Northern State University

Position Purpose
The Director of the Counseling Center is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Counseling Center, supervising staff, counseling students, and delivering programming on a variety of health and wellness issues to faculty, staff, and students. Serve as liaison to University Health Services.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and vision for the Counseling Center.
  • Provide effective personal counseling and group counseling for students.
  • Supervise counselors, Program Manager, and administrative assistant.
  • Oversee weekly case staffing with counseling staff.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, training and evaluation for graduate interns.
  • Provide presentations and workshops in classrooms and residence halls on a variety of topics.
  • Plan, prepare, and administer operating budget for the Counseling Center.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and others as needed on students of concern.
  • Chair the Behavioral Intervention Group (BIG) and serve as a member of the Threat Assessment Team (TAT).
  • Coordinate biennial review of university compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.
  • Maintain counseling records on students receiving services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

Educational/Experience Requirments

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or related field.
  • South Dakota LPC (licensed professional counselor) or LPC-MH (licensed professional counselor mental health) licensure or transferable licensure from another state.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in counseling.

Southeastern Directions for Life is currently seeking a Homebased Mental Health Therapist who is self-motivated and committed to providing counseling to individuals (children and adults), families and groups. Some evening work and light travel to area communities may be necessary to accommodate families. Services may be provided in home, school or alternative locations.
