March Message from the President...
April is Counseling Awareness Month! If you noticed, I changed the logo to recognize the importance of Counseling Awareness. This is a great time to promote the profession of counseling. Do you need some ideas on how to share information with the media and consumers? The American Counseling Association has some terrific resources available on their website www.counseling.org. Spread the word about how wonderful much the profession has changed as well as the extensive training each of us go through in order to call ourselves Professional Counselors and Professional School Counselors (not guidance counselors! ☺)
Elections for the 2015-2016 President Elect of SDCA will soon be open! I am happy to announce that Erin Stolsmark and Tracie Erdmann have been nominated to serve as our next President Elect. Please keep your eyes open over the next week for our election email. Elections will be open for two weeks and the winner will be announced at our annual Awards Banquet at the conference. Good luck to two very deserving and talented women!
The Fun Run will again take place this year at the conference! Because of the early morning session on Friday, the Sioux Chapter run/walk has been changed to a 1 or 2 mile run/walk so all will have time to attend the early session. Please help us reach out to over 1,000 young people in the Sioux Falls School district who are served by adult mentors during the school year. The first 72 to register will receive a hot/cold drinking mug which will be available at the conference. Thank you to Jacob McDonald and John Hegg for organizing this event to benefit our host community.
Conference is in a few short weeks! I will be emailing attendees with updates a week before the event, with updates and reminders. If anyone has any information they would like included, please email me at email@example.com
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me! Have a wonderful month!
2013-2015 SDCA President
