October Message from the President...

October is here already! It is hard to believe. I love looking outside and seeing the leaves change color and the influx of pumpkins used decoratively all around. Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays, so I am eagerly planning out costumes for my family

This is a busy time for SDCA as well. Hopefully most of you, if not all of you received our SAVE THE DATE postcard, advertising our preconference and keynote speaker, Dr. Wubbolding. Please visit our website at www.sdcounseling.org for more information

The Call for Program has been posted on our website for the 2015 SDCA Conference. In order to provide diverse, engaging programming, we need YOU, our members, to submit presentation proposals. Proposals are due by October 15, 2014. Get those proposals in now! Presentation spots are limited and we want to provide our members with a variety of topics. Some topics that have been requested include self-harm, working with depression, co-occurring disorders, stress management, adult ADHD, and working with the elderly. If you would like additional suggestions as to presentation topics, feel free to email me at sdca.counseling@gmail.com. Our goal is to have the conference program-including our program offerings out to you by December 1st. We are also always open to suggestions on social activities, so please, if you have any ideas, email me!

The SDCA Board of Directors will have having an annual meeting at the end of the month. We will be reviewing our budget, our strategic plan, as well as continuing to work on planning our Day on the Hill and Conference events. Day on the Hill will be coming up in January. SDCA will be advocating for our state’s counselors on Friday, January 30th in Pierre. All are welcome, so mark your calendars and plan to attend!

As always, the SDCA Board of Directors is here to serve you! Please let us know if you need anything. Have a fun and safe October!
